Philadelphia
Flyers repeat home ice advantage, go up 2-0 in series! In Philadelphia
the Montreal Canadians showed a better effort in game two out shooting
the Flyers 30-23 but still didn't have an answer for Flyer goalie Michael
Leighton as he was able to record back to back shut outs in games one
and two of the best of seven series. The last time a Flyer goalie was
good for back to back shut outs in the playoffs was 1975, the year Bernie
Parnet did it and the Flyers won the Stanley Cup. Flyers hot hands with
the sick were able to get the team on the board both on the power play,
Danny Briere scoring his ninth of the playoffs on the power play in the
first as Simon Gagne was also able to connect in the second
on a power play advantage cashing in
his sixth goal of the playoffs. Flyers would get their insurance goal
in the third on a snap shot off the stick of Ville Leino that Canadians
goalie Jaroslav Halak wish he could have back with just 9:36 remaining.
The Flyers would shut the door the rest of the way and were able to grab
the 2-0 lead in the series. Game three is Thursday night in Montreal where
the Canadian crowd will ready to support their team who ousted the first
seeded Washington Capitals and defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh
Penguins. |
